Scenarios about Europe: Scenario 1

The curators approach the topic of Europe from different perspectives. Cultural translations (Esra Sarigedik Öktem), the representation of national identities and their borders (Peio Aguirre) play just as important a role as biocultural diversity (Filip Luyckx) or the ideologization and perversion of different ways of life (Miško Šuvaković). The artists/curators investigate socio-economic upheavals, examine Europe as a financial space (Markus Miessen/Felix Vogel), and explore the possibilities of art and art initiatives in current political and economic contexts – not least against the background of global developments (Jun Yang). They pose questions about the relationship between the individual and society, about what forms community (Tone Hansen, Ane Hjort Guttu), how much heterogeneity it can withstand (Joanna Sokołowska), when social constraints turn into anarchy in closed communities (Kit Hammonds), or when social promises become rhetoric (Lena Prents).
